DeVeor Rainey
DeVeor Rainey was born in 1966 in Harlem, NYC, during a time of resistance, self-determination, and integrated representation. Immersed in a vibrant cultural landscape, her artistic development was nurtured by public school arts programs and cultural institutions such as The Harlem School of the Arts, Henry Street Settlement, Marie Brooks Dance Studio, and La Rock Bey Dance School.
In August 2023, DeVeor was accepted into the Bead Project at Brooklyn’s Urban Glass, a scholarship program for economically disadvantaged women, femmes, and gender non-conforming individuals in NYC to learn glass beadmaking and entrepreneurship.
DeVeor's artistic expression is rooted in historical references, skill development, and a continually expanding universal view. She creates wearable art pieces inspired by diverse cultures and life experiences, aiming to celebrate the beauty of uniqueness.
